Passionate About Helping Families!

WCPC and its partners utilize research/evidence-based practices applicable to young children in providing a continuum of interventions to fit the specific needs of the families served. Providers are trained in various modalities including Conscious Discipline®, Triple P – Positive Parenting Program®, Second Step, The Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL), the psycho-educational approach, positive discipline, behavioral therapy and family system models, Theraplay techniques, play-based assessment, Filial Therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

WCPC providers have experience working with parents whose children exhibit aggression, overactivity, attentional difficulties, oppositional behavior, tantrums, anxiety, sensory integration challenges, complicated toileting, sleep and communication challenges. In addition, they effectively work with parents whose children are diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, children who have been adopted, and children experiencing divorce, death of a loved one, or trauma.

In addition, WCPC providers have decades of experience working with families in high-risk populations to uncover factors impeding school success.  Providers educate and empower parents to help their children overcome challenging behavior to experience success at school and at home.  WCPC has provided training at organizations such as Raleigh Rescue Mission, the Salvation Army Shelter, various public housing projects, NC PreK programs and Project Enlightenment.  Providers work with families to improve family interaction patterns that support the objective of closing the achievement gap for high-risk populations prior to school entry and understand the critical need to intervene early in the child’s life, during the kindergarten year or before.
